Si avvia a soluzione il problema dell’emergenza rifiuti che si è verificata in questi giorni e che ha coinvolto una quarantina di comuni in tutta la Sicilia a causa della improvvisa chiusura dell’impianto di trattamento di Alcamo dove anche Monreale conferiva i suoi rifiuti indifferenziati. Con un provvedimento straordinario il dipartimento regionale per i Rifiuti e le Acque ha autorizzato il comune a conferire i quantitativi di rifiuti che in questi giorni si sono accatastati lungo le strade a causa dell’impossibilità di depositarli nell’impianto alcamese.
Questa autorizzazione, che ha il carattere della straordinarietà, serve ad eliminare l’arretrato che in questi giorni si è accumulato su tutto il territorio. “Anche in questo caso – afferma il sindaco Alberto Arcidiacono – la Regione è venuta incontro alle esigenze del territorio, facendosi carico di un problema che ha investito numerosi comuni dell’Isola, compresa la nostra Monreale. Ringrazio i vertici del dipartimento Acqua e Rifiuti, che con grande solerzia e senso di responsabilità hanno consentito di trovare questa soluzione che servirà a togliere dalle nostre strade i grossi quantitativi di rifiuti. Ancora una volta l’amministrazione comunale si scusa con la cittadinanza per i disagi patiti in questi giorni, pur sapendo di aver pagato colpe non proprie”.
