Dante nella Divina Commedia, colloca Guglielmo II nel XX canto del Paradiso”.
Il 25 marzo si festeggia il Dantedì, giornata in cui si celebra il Sommo Poeta e la sua Divina Commedia. In tale occasione il L’assessorato alla Cultura e l’intera Giunta del Comune di Monreale ha aderito all’evento nazionale mettendo in visione alcuni testi antichi della storica biblioteca benedettina Santa Maria La Nuova e del Fondo Moderno di Santa Caterina. L’ iniziative promossa dal sindaco Alberto Arcidiacono e dall’assessore Rosanna Giannetto con la giunta comunale tende a valorizzare il prestigioso patrimonio librario che è custodito in entrambi i siti. E’ noto ricordare, inoltre che Dante nella Divina Commedia, colloca Guglielmo II nel Paradiso, canto XX, linee 61-66 . “E quel che vedi nell’arco declivo, Guglielmo fu, cui quella terra plora/ che piagne Carlo e Federico vivo: / ora conosce come s’innamora/ lo ciel del giusto rege , e al sembiante / del suo fulgore il fa vedere ancora”.
Nella biblioteca storica infine è custodita l’antica edizione a stampa del 1515 della Divina Commedia dell’illustre tipografo italiano Aldo Manuzio.
In questa occasione l’amministrazione Arcidiacono grazie alla collaborazione della responsabile della biblioteca storica Ignazia Ferraro, al fine di far conoscere questo e gli altri prestigiosi testi invita la cittadinanza e soprattutto i giovani alla sala lettura. Si ricorda che la consultazione puo’ avvenire anche in presenza rispettando le norme anti covid sul distanziamento. Gli orari di apertura sono tutti i giorni dalle ore 8.30 alle 13.30 e martedi’ anche nel pomeriggio dalle 15.00 alle 18.00.
